Melissa, thank you so much for the massage last June. I have been wanting to let you know that ALL of my back and visceral pain disappeared two days after the massage and I was spontaneously discharged from physical therapy-- I didn't need it anymore! Thanks to you and your healing hands!
- J.L., Pittsburgh

Award-winning massage therapist Melissa Sokulski is pleased to offer massage at the Birch Center.

Specializing in women's health, Melissa knows that relaxation and stress reduction are keys to overall good health.

Melissa graduated with a degree in women's studies from Bryn Mawr College in 1990, then received certification in therapeutic massage from Stillpoint Center School for Massge Therapy in western Massachusetts in 1991. There she learned:

  • Swedish massage
  • deep tissue bodywork
  • foot reflexology
  • polarity therapy (energy work)
  • sports massage.

After studying herbal medicine in upstate New York and Maine, Melissa developed her own herbal massage oils, which she still produces today. These special oils help relax the muscles, ease pain and nourish the skin.

Melissa moved her massage practice to Boston, MA, where she earned her Masters Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from The New England School of Acupuncture. While practicing massage she won a readers poll award in the best massage category from the Brookline Tab.

In acupuncture school Melissa learned new massage techniques:

  • Tui Na massage
  • acupressure
  • Shiatsu.

After graduating from acupuncture school she assisted in teaching anatomy and Tui Na there.

Today she combines all these techniques into a massage uniquely suited to each individual. Whether you come in to relax, to release migraine pain and neck tension, to prepare for or recover from a road race, or to stimulate your body's healing abilities, your massage will be tailored to your needs.

Melissa also offers massage for infants and children, and during these sessions will instruct the parent or caregiver on techniques they can do at home.

She also offers Acu-Massage, a unique combination of acupuncture and massage.

Melissa Sokulski offers massage at the Birch Center by appointment, on Mondays. She also offers acupuncture, and herbal consultations.
